Here it is: my first OOTD (outfit of the day, for those who are wondering)
Like I said in my opening post, I sure do love a good blue and white stripe, no matter what article of clothing. This obsession probably stems from my grandma, whose motto seems to be ‘confident in blue.’ After admiring her for the past nineteen years, the trend has officially caught on with me too.
Aside from just the color and pattern of these pants, I have been eyeing the paper bag waistline for a while. My friend, Sara, has an incredible army green pair from Gap** that make her look like a model. Unfortunately, they’ve been sold out of my size forever and haven’t seemed to be available anywhere else, so I began to give up the search for my own set.
Just when I thought all hope was lost, I stumbled upon these in the Target clearance section of all places, though this is not the first dream of mine to come true in those red aisles. From the ever-impeccable WhoWhatWear line, I can assure you that these pants will be on constant rotation in my wardrobe, but as a word of advice to those looking to purchase: they run on the short side. All the tall ladies out there may want to opt for the next size up or cuff the hem like I did.
To emphasize the paper bag detailing, I knew I wanted to show off the waistline. Crop tops aren’t really my style, so I chose to tuck in this comfy, white Gap t-shirt. Since it’s around eighty-degrees during an average summer day, the short sleeve option provides the perfect amount of breathability, but it can easily be swapped out for a lengthier cut as the weather cools down in the evenings and the fall.
While I could successfully create a cute outfit with those two pieces alone, I felt like including a little more texture and color to the ensemble. Last week, I picked up this light pink vest at Gap, and it perfectly complimented the soft hues of pale, blue stripes. Plus, it’s the perfect way to incorporate the blush color into my wardrobe without washing out my skin. Overall, I think it takes the look from backyard barbeque to casual yet still put together, working woman.
For the finishing touch, I paid attention to my choice of accessories. Essentially, little pieces can make a big difference. The nude heels kept the professional vibe going and provided a confidence boost for me. There’s just something about extra height that makes you feel better about yourself. The silver jewelry stands out against the pastel color palette, while the pink clutch adds just a little more dimension to the blush vest. Even the glasses give off the impression of a woman with places to go and people to see. To me, this look is perfect for plane rides, casual Fridays at the office, or weekends in the city.
Well, I hope you enjoyed my first OOTD. Please feel free to send me recreations of my look, inspired purchases, or fresh takes on how to style these pieces; I’d be elated to hear from you. Don’t forget to subscribe to get notifications, so you never miss an outfit!
until next time,
xoxo madison
