I finally decided to take a brief break from vacation outfits to update with you something a little more recent, but don't worry! Boston outfits will be returning next week.
Although I just claimed that my green and blue clutch was my best thrift find ever (peep the bag here), I'm now going to dispute that statement. Instead, the award has to go to this incredible dress. Originally from L.L. Bean, I swear this was never worn before it was sent to the racks of Goodwill, which is all the better for me. Every time I wear it, I feel as if I'm giving off total art teacher vibes, and I love it. Per usual, I was originally drawn to the blue and white pattern, and the button up neckline, which are both features that are extremely up my alley, but they're not all I admire. The yellow detailing near the bottom is also incredible. It adds such a fun, playful touch, yet still appears very classy, rather than tacky.

With such a bright dress, I opted for more neutral accessories. Pairing brown details with a blue ensemble tends to be a personal favorite of mine. I actually purchased these slip-ons not too long ago on a whim at Target (shocker, i know). I'd been admiring them every time I passed by them in the aisle, because I love the old-time, classy feel they give off. So naturally, when they were added to the clearance section, I had to make them mine. Although I've been wearing them nonstop (they literally go with my entire wardrobe), if you're in the market for something like these, I'd suggest opting for a different pair. They cut up the back of my heels like no other, which is one of my least favorite features of a shoe.
Just like the dress, I also found this gem of a handbag at Goodwill. Originally from CottonOn, the shade of brown matches my shoes perfectly, and I love how big it is. Any purse than can conceal both my planner and a book at the same time is a great find for me!
Surprisingly, I wore another accessory in this ensemble: earrings.

In all honesty, I bought these bad boys without even knowing if my ears were still pierced. It's been forever since I've worn a pair of earrings. I literally wore clip ons for my senior year prom, so it really was only a fifty-fifty chance of being able to rock them. Luckily, they worked, and as I said in The Best Of: Target, Fall 2017, tassels are here to stay.
Besides just the color combination (seriously, I've been obsessed with blue and yellow together all summer), I was drawn to the size and the tassels of the earrings. They capture a lot of attention and they look very on-trend, yet they're very minimal and can be re-worn multiple times. Plus, jewelry is such a cheap way to try out fashion-forward pieces without having to commit fully. If you're looking to try a similar pair, be sure to read this post.

Ultimately, this is my perfect casual outfit. It's comfortable and so simple, yet it looks extremely polished, like I put a lot of effort into creating the look. If you ever see me on a Saturday afternoon, I'll probably be wearing something along these lines. I also have to take every opportunity to wear summery dresses and bright colors before the cool air starts setting in.
I hope you enjoyed this look! Be sure to subscribe to my mailing list so you never miss a post.
i'm wishing sunny saturdays never had to end - who's with me?
