Holly Jolly, a christmas day lookbook
You know what one of the best attributes of Christmas is? The fact that it's basically a two day holiday. Not only do you get to celebrate on the 25th, but you also get to celebrate the night before, which means one thing (besides more time for holiday cheer): two Christmas outfits!
Since I opted for a neutral look for Christmas Eve, I figured I had to add a slight touch of color to my Christmas day ensemble. Rather than finding anything bright red to wear for the occasion, I chose this plaid, maroon cape. Personally, I find it beautiful and classic, yet very cozy for the chilly weather outside.
As much as I would like to take credit for finding the perfect little black sweater dress to pair with the cape, I cannot. These two actually came in a set I stumbled upon at a huge sale in Younkers. The best part of the look is that though they look great together, they still are separates. This black dress is an awesome addition to my wardrobe, with the ability to be dressed up or down. The same can be said for this cape as well, which I've worn with jeans and sweaters several times.
An added bonus from my family opening Christmas presents on Christmas eve is the fact that I can showcase some of my gifts the next day. All of the jewelry pictured was picked out by my parents, and I am incredibly thankful. The bracelet is beautiful, metal chain, and the necklace features the lovely state of South Dakota with the word 'Home' written across it. When wearing it, I'll always have a piece of the 605 (aka a huge piece of my heart) with me.
Honestly, I've loved the chance to dress up more than usual during this holiday season, but for the rest of winter break, I intend to lay low in casual outfits and light makeup. There is no greater feeling than taking off the heels and throwing on sweats on a snowy winter evening. Add a book to the mix, and I'm the happiest girl in the world.
i hope you enjoyed the lookbook today, + i hope you had a great holiday. i know i'm feeling more thankful + blessed for my family than ever before. for those wondering, all the colors of my eyeshadow come from the 'tartlette in bloom' palette by tarte, and my lipstick is nyx liquid suede in the shade soft-spoken. they're both personal favorites of mine. please let me know if you'd ever like to see a makeup tutorial or my daily make up products on this blog! thanks for being here today.
happy reading.
