The Dazzling Heights by Katharine McGee

Rating: 9/10

Favorite Quote: "For the rest of tonight she would be the most sparkling, unattainably gorgeous version of herself, nothing but smiles and flashing eyes - and no one would ever see how hurt she was beneath it all."

Synopsis: This book is set in a futuristic New York City, where instead of being on one level, the city is in a tower, with the floors ranging from 1-1000. As you climb the tower, each new floor represents a higher social class, and the thousandth floor is owned by the richest family of all: The Fullers. Following the unexpected death of one of the elite, teenagers from all levels are affected, including the Avery and Atlas Fuller, aka the two at the top of the social pyramid, causing them all to cover up secrets to save their reputations and their futures.

Review: I LOVED THIS BOOK. Seriously, if you are into the tv show Gossip Girl or the tv show 90210, you are going to absolutely adore this story. Maybe you've never seen those shows, but if you're into lives of elite teenagers, drama, scandals, juicy secrets, and forbidden love, let me just tell you that you are in for a treat with The Dazzling Heights. I read it in less than a day because I just couldn't put it down, and there were so many twists, turns, and exciting events that you never knew what was going to happen next. All around, it's an incredible story, and I wish I could live in the world that's depicted.

Final Thoughts: I know that synopsis and review may seem extremely vague, and unfortunately, they have to be. The Dazzling Heights is the second book of The Thousandth Floor trilogy. In order to properly review this book, I would have to give away too many secrets from the first novel, The Thousandth Floor. I would say that I enjoyed the second book just as much, if not more, than the first book, which is really saying something since I was beyond obsessed with the first novel. Honestly, it's been an extremely long time since I found a series that I loved, as I seem to always be disappointed by the sequel and give up on the plot line altogether. This is not the case for Katharine McGee's work, and I would highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend both The Thousandth Floor and The Dazzling Heights. I know that this is only the first book that I have read in the new year, but it's going to be high on my list of favorites, and it's definitely going to be a challenging book to top. I can't recommend this series enough, though I would like to add that this is a “just for fun” series. You won’t walk away with any deeper meanings or inspiration, but I do promise that it’s extremely entertaining and a high quality read when you’re looking for something to help you escape reality for a little bit.

i hope all of you are off to an incredible start of the new year. fingers crossed that you're sticking to your new year's goals + that you've had ample time for reading - i know i've gotten the chance to flip many pages, so i am a happy camper. for those of you returning to school this week, good luck! here's to your best semester of grades yet. as always, please send book ideas my way. i'm looking forward to my best year of reading to date, so i want some 12/10 titles!!

happy reading

xoxo madison
